The US has some of the lowest overall tax collections of any high income country. Taxes aren’t making life unaffordable - underfunded public goods, for profit health care, and skyrocketing housing costs very much are!

The rent is too high and tenants need protections! Rents have risen at nearly double the rate of inflation in the last several years. That’s landlords price gouging because they can, and it needs to stop. Rent control is a reasonable and important piece of an equitable approach to housing 👏

It’s a little silly that California puts special warning labels on cars advising people (correctly) of the health risks that cars create, but continues to be one of the most car-centric states in the country - this was my walk to get coffee this morning
