I've decided not to cancel my subscription to his podcast out of pettiness, but it is hard to respect someone you see act so disingenuous & scummy and then personally experience the consequences of it. I'm not used to being Seen at all in the world so it's been upsetting to say the least

I don't see any contradiction there with being inspired to say something I can immediately see & interact with in my own life either. Michael Hobbes saw my post about his disgusting logic, and it directed his behavior! Into being even more shitty! Which reveals much more about him than me.

But there is nothing fascinating about pure human misery to me. I have nothing of value to say about it, there is nothing anybody else has anything to gain from me about it, and I doubt anyone would dispute this.

Personally, some things are just too depressing for me to ruminate on, and when they have elements that you have mixed feelings about, it lends itself doubly to that. The sardonic absurdities of the times are endlessly fascinating to me and I feel the urge to talk about them.

It seems like some people want others to have a written declaration of "I oppose Palestinian genocide" or similar that they can produce like a signed loyalty oath upon demand. If they thought about it, they'd realize how gross that is, but consider this mine.

Even though I don't think social media postures about Palestine "do anything" material, that doesn't mean they don't mean anything. Symbolic actions & personal expression mean a great deal to people. But no one else can be coerced into feeling that same way about them. It's just not how people work.

That is "almost" because it also affects any witness who feels similarly to either party. And that's how you get an environment that is utterly poisoned to the benefit of nobody and nothing and to the detriment of many other things. It's also, itself, immoral? Does that even need to be said?

So why shouldn't someone draw the conclusion that all the "you're making it about yourself" accusations are pure projection? Sending or receiving trolling or harassment *is* about yourself. It has almost no bearing on anything in the world other than the state of mind of the sender and the recipient

I sincerely think there is frustration from fucked up people online that a dollar to Palestinian relief from someone who is not 100% on board with all their beliefs or rhetoric or behavior is worth the exact same as theirs, and anything else we might do or say is likewise worth the same (zero)

Truly he cannot be that naive about what prompted Natalie to make a statement or what happens to random people like Dana when he angrily quotes them. Especially when the disagreement is "it's ok to talk about this" vs "no it's not." You think anyone who saw his post went to Talk Humanly to Dana?

If you acknowledge the internet harassment, something 100% in the control of anyone who engages in it, then you don't care about dead children from a situation completely out of any of our control. If you incite internet harassment? It's just because you care so damn much.

Somehow, this is considered less disrespectful and more helpful to a cause about horrifying murder and grave human rights violations than opposing sending obscene pictures to people on the internet, which he enabled.
