Parents fled Cuba in 60s. Fast forward to Nov 6 2025, I booked a flight out Jan 8 even though there was cheaper one on 19th. Too close. If you try fighting in a dictatorship, they just kill you. No one should be shamed for not staying to "fight." Americans are facing the unprecedented for US.

That said--not everyone has option to leave and desire to fight is noble. Everyone is figuring out how to survive a new reality either stateside or in exile, like me. All of it is heartbreaking.
