heard the new madi diaz album yesterday and really enjoyed it. then went back to her 2024 release and really really really enjoyed it. her 2021 album didn’t disappoint either. highly recommend.

both of these live thelonious albums were recorded the same night in 1958 after monk (finally) got his cabaret card back and could perform again in nyc. all but one of the twelve tracks on the originally-issued albums are his own compositions.
