There is nothing as radicalizing as seeing it happen in person. There is nothing as visceral as the feeling that you’re on the knife’s edge of being able to save someone and you might not be able to.

I know anti-Somali racism has been alive and well here for a while but what’s happening in this moment is worse than ever and not one GOP member could buck the Nazi trend and go stand with her.

Think about what that means for a minute—her GOP colleagues agree with Trump that she is garbage and doesn’t belong here. They buy into the “subhuman” Nazi narrative. It’s so disgusting I can barely think about it and Zaynab and the others have to LIVE it and work with those people in their faces
