These were super easy to make! We used untreated cedar, formed them into boxes, placed them, put down cardboard to kill the grass, and then filled with half compost and half black soil. We later added the wire fencing when the squirrels realized we had a goldmine there!

A Rubbermaid bin full of high heels. The color block and gray and yellow and the black Charlotte Russe with the ruffles. These shoes held up fantastically well despite all the bad decisions made in them. The night everyone got tetanus on that party bus. The night someone’s wallet was stolen at Billy’s. The night Tony bought $75 shots of tequila even though he didn’t know what he was drinking. The night Tony bought Dom Perignon and we drank it out of plastic cups while eating grocery store sheet cake. The night Jon got left behind at the midway McDonald’s and the cops called us. These shoes saw vomit, dancing, a bottle of vodka stored in someone’s crotch, a kesha concert, weddings, bachelorette parties, that time Jordan threw up on the bar and we didn’t get kicked out. These shoes weren’t functional in the least and came off mere hours into any event. But they are a sign that we lived, and a tribute to a bunch of absolute hussies who partied their asses off and came out the other side. This is an ode to the hos and their impractical shoes. This is an ode to 2009-2013, waking up and putting more eyeliner on even though you didn’t wash off your makeup, and dressing up for the day to compensate for the fact that you’re still hungover or maybe still drunk. This is elder millennial history, and even if it sounds terrible and dangerous now, this was how we were.

CS: Yeah, I think there's so much about who is targeted on sight and who is marked as the outsider and the deviant — the green person, the goat, the disabled person - and who is cast into these villainous roles. And that's not just important to notice because of the impact it has on those people who are cast as villain, but actually perhaps more important is: What is it doing in the service of power to create those villain narratives? And I think that's why the film is so important, because it is the mechanism of how those narratives are constructed that exposes what the Wizard is doing. It exposes the emptiness of those who are wielding power over us. We're being cast in the service of undermining democracy, of expanding executive power, of erasing the ways in which those who are billionaires are pillaging our resources.

Super interesting to me that Alicia Gibson is listed as a witness. In emails after the meeting that these complaints revolve around, she seemed committed to ending “the weaponization of social media and the characterization of the meeting in that space that is destructive and dangerous”
I appreciate your thoughtful and respectful email in today. Could you please attach the screenshot you referenced? I would certainly like to hold our new leadership accountable. Right now the online space is out of control, and some DFL activists are part of the problem. My speech at the end was certainly sincere and stands. We need everyone. And while many are new, so don't know our bios, individuals who convened the meeting and long time members are personal advocates of Trans people in places where they live. Some of these places are difficult places to be Trans or even Democrat. We are also vigorous proponents of the ERA - one of our primary concerns - and the inclusion of broad gender protections. I would be happy to have a meeting with new Trans members on my own to hear concerns and to reiterate that you are welcome. As for the one Feminist Caucus leader who appeared to be mocking by putting something other than her pronoun. She put the word Black. I think she explained herself well last night that this has nothing to do with mocking the Trans community. Latonya is a DNC representative for our party and a union President. She did not get elected to these roles by being a bigoted person. One positive thing that I think can come from this may be the establishment of online protocols that can be used as recommendations across all community caucuses. However some members like Latonya may choose to assert what they believe to be their primary identity. I choose, in the principle of inclusion, to accept that diversity of identity. Let me address why we sent this email. In the intervening period members of our team, and the caucus as a body, has come under extreme online attack. We are being called the Murder Caucus by certain members of the caucus and who have harassed one of our members for months now and have expanded this harassment to include at least three others in ways that are abusive. One of those received at least one death threat that the police are taking serious. To call the pro-choice activists in our party the Murder Caucus on social media - after the assassination of Melissa Hortman by a pro-life extremist is dangerous. That combined with the cruelty and obstruction from the meeting, in the wake of more gun violence and political violence, prompted us to respond in the way we did. To the new Trans members such as yourself who had nothing to do with any of this, apologies if it felt directed at you. There is a reason we did not use the word trans in describing our concerns because nothing in our concerns applies to the Trans community or members as a whole or even individually as it relates to gender. The call out was to the weaponization of social media and the characterization of the meeting in that space that is destructive and dangerous. And our ask is not that disagreement end, but that the online attacks from within do. We have enough to deal with from the right and the slide into fascism that we are all experiencing. Combatting that must be our primary goal. Again, thank you for writing in. I don't like any of our members feeling hurt and want all of us to be safe and welcomed when organizing together. I do not believe this can happen until we create ways, as a party, for addressing online harassment and online cruelty. Alicia
