A fascinating first plenary for #UACES2025 thinking about European integration history - 75 years after the Schuman Declaration.

How should we now consider this pivotal moment, and what have we missed so far?
Brigitte Leucht opens her talk with a slide reminding us all that politics and history are both 'parasitic' disciplines, attaching to each others and other disciplines Peo Hansen speaks about the importance of colonialism (French and Belgian especially) in early days of European integration - illustrated with map of EEC in 1961 which includes large swathes of Africa.

Well that's a #trainline #railandsail fail - Trainline still lets you book tickets for 0805 ferry which has not run since the December storms!

So (Welsh& English trains willing) I'll get to Bath for 9pm instead of 6....
