Nice write-up! DEATH AND RETURN and KNIGHTFALL were largely my intro into reading DC comics.
In the way of detours, have you read miniseries "Turning Points"? Specifically #4 but the whole series is worthwhile: KNIGHTFALL (and other major Batman stories) from Gordon's perspective.

These are always jostling around based on how much they actually stay with me or get impacted by rewatches, but here's where I am at the moment. This is an inherently stupid post because I'm watching BLACK PHONE 2 and GdT's FRANKENSTEIN next week.

I don't know if this is a hot take, but ROOFMAN is my favorite portrayal of church (in a movie) in recent memory.

Kinda blows my mind that there’s an upcoming Depeche Mode film that won’t be directed by Anton Corbijn. He’s synonymous with their aesthetic; just assumed he’d be their guy forever.

Dagwood Bumstead. Working class family man, hot wife, vintage character yet still a household name, has a sandwich named after him. He’s the prototype of virtually every sitcom TV dad, which is our most quintessentially American character archetype.

Been looking forward to this announcement for a long time. Exciting to see that this is all three films, which I didn't expect. A special edition of these films with extras is long overdue.
