It doesn't prevent a whole load of other things either. Why is that a good reason to undermine the progress it brings?

Even the possibility that AI algorithms can be riddled with disinformation is enough to undermine its whole existence. Maybe this is a basis for the sane part of humanity to ditch AI as unsafe tech before it takes over?

Stupid times indeed. But stupidity only spreads if you can hear it. And the loudspeaker of stupidity is undoubtedly social media.
Let's block all stupidity spreaders before we need to switch SM off altogether.

I'm sure they can. Its a great initiative. I'm sure there are practices where such moves make a tremendous difference. I'm all for it. But to change the whole profession: that's a sea change. Given the constancy of the issue & already so many hard core changes, an existential change is needed IMHO.

Culture: with corporatisation and feminisation of the profession, the culture has massively changed. And along with that, management systems, personnel & structures. Yet this problem hasn't! What possible further, beneficial culture change could there be? Lobotomisation????

and worn down by constant gripes over decades of high costs. Our drug mark ups were far lower but it made no difference to the whine. So yes, there are good reasons for complaints and if/when fair the vet profession does well dealing with. But the weight of unfair gripes has cost careers and lives.

Moving forward I carried client monies outstanding of 20%
t/o(100K!) 1983-2000 as they wouldn't pay up & we carried the debt. Huge cost. After 2000 corporatisation invaded & total intolerance of client debt. So enforced payment became only option. But ALL this was client driven. We were worn out/2

Management was private, non corporate and far lower prices( in relative terms) 1980-2010. But the crit was same. In 1983 my predecessor ( 1950-1983) said "I won't miss being the farmers' banker". Translated for era: clients didn't or couldn't pay up promptly because of the size of the bills./1

It's absolutely not a post pandemic concept. My career was ALL pre pandemic. This was happening when I entered it way, way back. Ownership concepts have changed along with employment structures. The sex ratio of vets has switched 180deg. The problem has been a constant.

You exhibit the attitude which enforces this reality. And said nothing which changes it. The difference from those "many jobs" is the selection process, the lack of training in this issue at an early stage, and the life/death proximity. The suicide figures are the evidence.

Sorry but I disagree. IMHO it is definitely the fault of SOME CLIENTS. Not most of them. Most days clients are great. And life is pretty good too. It's fun, it's satisfying, it's productive, it's enriching. Other days all the clients are great ... but one or two are not. And those guys RUIN LIFE.

No mention of same 6 gps owning much of online pharmacy sector. However this pans out they will benefit. Their buying power beats inde vets all round. CVS shares up another 1.7% today after sharp recent rise. No worries there. VetPartners continues to rent empty premises to reduce inde competition.

Differentiate Golden from Liver coloured cockers. Brown is not a colour used in UK and is confusing. Goldens are what you refer to as "brown". But they have been improved a lot. However I still wouldn't have one. Liver cockers, by contrast, are v different. Lovely dogs. I'd have one any day.

So because one vet does this, that then applies to all vets. Totally illogical. Vets are human beings. We are endlessly variable.

Yes, so very easy...they're all colour coded.... various shades of orange.

Illogical.
