Musician, programmer, enjoyer of cats. I am occasionally funny if you’re into that sort of thing.
Let’s say someone repeatedly helps powerful people sweep their child abuse scandals under the rug, and ends up becoming attorney general as a result. That person isn’t a pedophile, but they’re willing to enable them in exchange for money/power. How is there not a scathing word for this?
July 16, 2025 at 1:35 PM
Agreed, though I feel like we need a word for the kinds of people who don’t give a shit that these abuses are happening so long as their team has power. It deserves its own pejorative.

My wife had a similar experience with breast cancer. At 18 she found a lump. A doctor insisted that 18 year olds don’t get breast cancer.

It was breast cancer. Thankfully we found a doctor willing to listen.

I’m flabbergasted by how often you’re able to put out such cool videos. I’m starting to think you’ve cloned yourself and there are a dozen Benns running around feeding chickens, writing music, and making awesome videos.

You are relentless and we are spoiled by it.

Thank you so much!

There was some Aparillo in there, Velvet Machine, MIDI Step (the 4 Pockets thing), Ridgewalk, Pure Upright, and the real star is Flux. I use that to have different pieces fade in and out to make the piece feel longer and less crowded.

In the near future, deepfake enthusiasts will be like, “I kicked off two video generations last night with a pair of models I’ve been training. But instead of my dead grandma, now I’ve got a video of ScarJo saying she’s with grandpa in Heaven, and I’m too afraid to open the other video.”

What drives me crazy about it is that the market *was* starting to get better. Inflation had cooled enough that interest rates were starting to come down, which our field desperately needed.

Then we elected an arsonist and now everything is so much more deeply fucked than it was before.

I’m not liking it. I’m pointing to the part where the news makes me hurt.

Prepare for a 666% tariff on the Vatican if they don’t pick Trump as the next pope.

I’m not an AI skeptic. I was into LLMs years before ChatGPT, and have been behind the scenes on some famous AI projects. But does *everything* need to be AI now? Is there no room left for building regular apps anymore?

I feel so old and grumpy about what’s happened to the field I love.
April 24, 2025 at 12:40 PM
I’ve been a dev for ~20 years.

You can’t get investment for anything except LLM slop now. Companies with real products are drying up because they’re not making a wrapper around the ChatGPT API.

A script written in a weekend that just calls ChatGPT can get millions. I hate what’s happened to tech.

The original owner showed up and looked identical to OP.

Turns out the doppelgänger wasn’t looking for their cat — they were looking for their house. Which was across the street and looked identical to OP’s house.

OP was confused about how they never noticed the identical house across the street.

I have a Subsequent 37 and love the sound, but it gets really menu-divey to do sound design, and the menu system is one of the most unpleasant I’ve used. Ripping even more knobs off to make the smaller Sub25 is rough.

If there’s one thing the economy loves, it’s violently being jerked back and forth by people who have no idea what they’re doing.

They say you should never meet your heroes, but you’ve turned out to be way more awesome than I could have expected when I started watching your gear videos all those years ago. Thank you for being the exception to the rule.

Or sentient anthropomorphic foxes with an incredible talent for making music, as the case may be.

Thank you. I spoke to a dozen people at the company. Some of them knew there were secret requirements about fintech experience they hadn’t disclosed and would disqualify me.

We let our corporate masters make us do this to each other. We abuse one another for them like we’re not even people.

I sold my Model 3 shortly after the inauguration. The dealership can’t sell the thing. Honestly, I was worried they wouldn’t accept it as a trade considering how quickly the brand is becoming less desirable.

Just found out that the job I’ve spent the last 5 weeks interviewing for was never actually possible for me to get. The company knew from the start, but strung me along because that’s how their process works.

I’m not even surprised. Fuck corporations, and fuck all the sociopathic corporate drones.

That was more terrifying than Hereditary.

Fascinating and incredibly well made. It’s definitely not helping with my anxiety, though.
