I was talking to a friend that exists in a different mindset. She said she thinks it’s preferable for the world to end than to stop using the wake surf boat with her kids. “It would just easier. People will never change.” How do I create change with that mindset?

When do these earthquakes in seemingly quick succession start to mean something? Or is this just business as usual and nothing to do with ‘the big one’ that will come the subduction zone?

The forests around my house die slowly and no one is noticing. Small groups of old growth Douglas Fir killed by bark beetle, hemlock eaten by looper moth, entire stands defoliated by spruce bud worm while the cedars died back during recent drought. The trees invisible by the forest. For now.

This is a great article. Why do you do the work instead of just hoping it’ll be ok?
