I miss ARR environmental design, you go to any of those maps and see elements from other maps nearby, in Eastern Thanalan you can even see a landmark from the South Shroud in the distance at one point. All the expansion maps are just surrounded by eternal mountains, all convenient valleys

The atmosphere this track has is unmatched for me, the way it's arranged makes it feel like this harrowing guttural solemn march forward, you can feel the anguish and the way the climax nearly always lines up with the peak of the fight is amazing
The more I think on it, I think the final boss theme of Delubrum Reginae ("The Queen Awakens") might be the best track in all of XIV's OST. Stellar in in-game presentation, in composition, and has insanely good instrument use across how many sections? Like 5? 6?

One of the funniest things I learned recently is that the "Limit Cut" A11S mechanic everyone named those numbered dashes after isn't even Limit Cut, that's the name of the damage buff, the actual mech is called Super Blassty Charge LOL

Add barriers before all alliance raid/dungeon final boss fights if someone is in cutscene, like the ring barrier at the start of an instance but also add it for the last boss

Probably his penchant for crafting little dioramas and trinkets of the places he visits! I'd like to think that alongside being a male viera, rare in itself, that it adds to making him stand out to bypassers. That and the shared trait of being in a party of 4 vieras of course being a big one hah

5.4, I clearly remember being amazed at seeing so many people together doing those quests inside the dinky lil caves in Azys Lla lol and then next patch doing all three NieR raids weekly for the coins was a Time Sink for sure

Because SE's QA people are probably not in a position to defend themselves and their jobs in public, I want to spell out some of what it is they specifically do for us localizers, because nothing I've written here is rhetorical. SE QA acts as a final check on our work after translation and editing.
You don't need me to tell you this is yet more good money being burned after bad. But as someone who's worked with that QA team, I'll say they're unsung heroes who truly play a huge role in maintaining SE's reputation for high quality locs and to attempt to replace them with AI is deeply insulting.
Square Enix wants 70% of its QA work to be handled by generative AI by the end of 2027, in partnership with the University of Tokyo's Matsuo-Iwasawa Laboratory. https://bit.ly/4qKdyQR

Tonight had some random hit the disagree emote on my character for which I can only assume is because I have a trans supportive message on my adventurer plate, if their own adventurer plate was anything to go by

Really wish I knew what vocal plugin Soken and his team use for some tracks because there's this very specific sound they've used on both XIV and XVI. It's that one vocal used in tracks like Il Mheg, Pilgrim's Traverse and XVI stuff like Sanbreque and Stillwind, not the same one as Rak'tika/Yak T'el
