Yesterday, Nov 20, 2025, we merged the "Run-time configurable module search paths" patchset github.com/X11Libre/xse... into the #XLibre Xserver master branch. This rounds out the support for the legacy #Nvidia drivers v340, v390, and v470. Available in our next release 25.1.0.

This is one of the flagship examples of HOW BAD the #FreeBSD marketing is.

FreeBSD has best features often DECADES before Linux prises them as 2nd coming of Christ ... same for FreeBSD Jails from 2000 while Docker started at 2013.
RHEL 10.1 introduces Soft Reboot Capability [1] in 2025.

Nice playing a catch up game to FreeBSD that has this feature [2]/[3] since 2015 - a whole DECADE ago.

Seems that just rewriting stuff in 'memory safe' Rust does not change anything when it comes to security.

They could rewrite it in COBOL and they would face the same issues.

I always wonder ... what the fuck for this shit is running in the background of my #FreeBSD desktop based on Openbox/Tint2/Dzen2/... setup.

Everytime I kill them all with '-9' option ... nothing changes and everything still works.
