Yeah, I totally get it! I've ruined my feet several times over the years traipsing around in trainers that look good but shred my feet.

Some kind of asics gel (can't remember the exact type-box is long gone) for that many steps, they seem to be the least punishing on my feet over distance.
For my taste, they're not as aesthetically pleasing as my other trainers, but mine are a few years old and still good.
