There's a new play about women's football in the WW1 era being produced next year. Intriguingly it was written in Italian originally and produced in Milan although it is about a Sheffield team. Great to know that the subject is still retaining interest.

After the recent film about the Shakers leader Ann Lee here’s another one about an isolated religious community with unorthodox beliefs. Maybe there is scope for theatre works exploring similar ground such as my play Children of God.

The Voices of GAIA is on tonight at The Core at Corby Cube and it includes my piece Magic Carpets which can also be heard on the website. In it a young girl recounts a perilous sea voyage to what she hopes is a safer place to live.

Infuriating.
Still waiting for Farage-mesmerised BBC to devote more than passing sentence to fact that Greens have more councillors than Reform and that Ed Davey's Lib Dems have all bit wiped out the Tories in their traditional shire heartlands....

Almost 100 years ago in June 1925 the annual beach racing event was held on Skegness beach. This monologue imagines Ivy Cummings near the end of her life reflecting on her past glories. BarbaraAshworth gives a great performance as Ivy. youtu.be/xfsN0mNhoCI?...

My copy came in the post today and my two pieces are The Curse of Yallery Brown, a contemporary retelling of the Lincolnshire folk tale and The Vicar of Stiffkey which imagines Billy Butlin witnessing Harold Davidson performing his fateful Daniel and the Lion act on Skegness seafront in 1937.

Spent the last few days editing this down to a 45 minute audio version with a much reduced cast of characters so hopefully it’s a tauter tighter piece. Much of it takes place in confined indoor spaces and I think that could be reflected really well in the sound design.
