This is correct but they still are nowhere near “nearly” as good as proper winter tires and the mountain/snowflake designation is misleading here.

I will say it once more. Every city councillor and the mayor should take Calgary Transit from their residence (in their ward) to work (City Hall) & return home once per week. We'd have improved transit for everyone in Calgary if key decision-makers were mandated use it regularly. 6/6 🚍🚉

How many of the decision-makers at Calgary City Hall took transit to work today to contemplate priorities in Calgary's budget? Did Mayor @jeromyyyc.bsky.social take transit from his home to his office this month, or specifically today, in the snow? Will he take transit tomorrow morning? 4/

Bus stops, where people will eventually get on a bus, don't get snow removal for 4-7 days. The bus can't 'kneel' in a one foot snowbank (that turns to ice) so accessibility to the bus is hampered. I have literally lifted someone onto a bus & helped a person off in snow conditions like today. 3/

Snow detours occur where buses usually get stuck. We don't mitigate the need for snow detours (like put snow tires on buses or do incremental snow clearing) we tell people to dress for the weather and to be patient, because it's snowing, like it always does. 2/ www.calgarytransit.com/news/snow-de...
