As I harped, the Knicks (and Thibs)' inability to convert opportunities on timeouts has been a problem all season. Look at this play and explain to me what's going on. Lot of people look clueless here. Just no attention to detail all season. No screens with purpose. No cuts.

here's the thing:

If you're gonna call a timeout, you CANNOT have this be your ATO. If this is the best possession you can generate, the ATO failed. @fredkatz.bsky.social knows this, but we've had way too many ATOs fail this season. That's poor timeout management.

4 blocks.

Not gambling here. Just a nice, clean block and got the Knicks on the break. Wasn't gambling for a block. Love to see the poise here. He can hold his own on defense against some 2nd units.

3 assists. All impressive too. This is my favorite of the 3 because this is how IHart and KAT are operating in short roll. Our wings are willing to cut and Huk being able to see the cutters will only maximize his development. Also means you can trust him with the ball to do things.

Also something our other non-KAT bigs don't do. Score in traffic. They even have Huk running in sets that KAT normally operates in. DHO action at the top of the arc and confidently operating in a P&R with Brunson is special. Yes, the Nets don't have bigs, but you like the confidence.

3-5 from the field in 30 mins. He set a solid screen here. But what I like is his ability to put up a floater, something neither Mitch or Sims really do. Precious maybe, but he just has touch. The confidence to do this with 3 starters + Cam Payne helps too.

Ok - biggest contrast between Randle & KAT is this. Just watch the patience as he finds a cutting OG as Giannis is napping. This is not a read Randle would process with us. This is so refreshing.

Anyhow - if you like this, please repost, like, comment, etc.

Another IHart-ish pass. KAT finding cutters is huge. I appreciate seeing the willingness from Brunson to cut. It'll help him be way more efficient. The wings do it already so this is a bonus. Benefit of KAT's spacing in full fold right here. Great ESP between the 5 and 1.

IHart used to do this a lot, but I always appreciate a great outlet pass. Finishing a play with a rebound and then starting a fastbreak with an outlet pass is easy money. The easier the baskets, the better for us. We have guys who get out on the break like Deuce, etc.

This is a simple assist, but I point this out as a contrast to Randle. I found that he often needed to dribble the ball a few times to just dish the ball to someone. Here, KAT doesn't waste any time and makes a simple pass to OG, who's been on point from 3 all season.

KAT Assist Thread!

Trying something new: Film breakdown:

While people may think we lost some playmaking trading Randle, I don't want us to underestimate KAT's passing.

Here - watch his patience after crashing the glass. Cutters will benefit him huge. Mikal cut, KAT delivered.
