i can't imagine a single system that would be totally resilient degradation and corruption by bad actors over decades or centuries. even a perfectly egalitarian democracy would be vulnerable to a stupid and cruel populace

maybe authoritarian is here because a lot of people wanted authoritarianism

I believe what many people actually want in their heart of hearts is for the "right" thing to happen without requiring anybody to wield power. But it turns out there is no magic. It's just us.
