I couldn't think of anything to put here on the bird site, I couldn't think of anything to put here on the elephant site, and I can't think of anything to put here.

I think this one has got to him because he's posted at least three separate responses to this over the last 10 hours:

And also Iain M Banks. First he used the Culture novels to name Space X's landing platforms, then a couple of days ago he was claiming that the Optimus robots would follow criminals around and stop them doing more crime, which he clearly swiped from Banks's "slap-drones".

What were the studio head's insults/dismissals? I looked at the Twitter account of Secret Level's Jason Zada, and now his only mocking tweet is a "haters gonna hate" GIF. But the reply at the bottom mentions a deleted tweet: presumably he said worse in that, and that's what you're referring to?

Yep, that's definitely a real pre-production illustration that was drawn by a person.

I still have the 1963 Encyclopaedia Britannica I inherited from my grandad (along with the bookshelf that's perfectly sized to hold them).

They are very heavy.

10. People talk a lot about video tapes jamming, but I think in the ~20 years I spent watching and recording videos, it only happened to me twice.

(One of those times was when we rented Batman & Robin from the library. I suspect the video may have been trying to warn us not to watch it.)

6. I remember doing all my tape winding with my fingernail...

8. My portable cassette player was a brand other than a Sony Walkman - does that count?

9. I had a "ghetto blaster" (as I grew up calling it) but never played it outside, let alone carried it on my shoulder.

Serves it right for spoiling all those good walks.

As nicely illustrated in @9mmballpoint.bsky.social's "Political Journey" comic:

Did you know that none of the other actors around E.T. were told what was going to happen in that scene, so their terrified reactions are all completely genuine?

Fun bit of Movie Trivia for you, there.

I remember a similar one from (I think) an early-'90s issue of The Beano:

"The name's Bond, James Bond. 007. (071 if you're outside central London.)"

(That's always stuck with me because I was too young to get it at the time, so had to have it explained to me.)

True, but 1 GW still falls 0.21 GW short of what's required to send a DeLorean 30 years backwards or forwards in time.
