Yeah, Clr. Nolan asked Brooke McKenna what the staff thought the best approach was. She brought up connectivity as best practice. She made it sound like the transportation staff would have removed the fence if left to their own devices.

During the council meeting, city transport professionals said their recommendation would be to remove the fence. I think the razor-thin majority supported the transportation professionals and reversed the "closed door" meeting that shut down the public process on access to the park. My 2 cents.

5-4 in favor of removing the fence (this was a vote on a McGovern compromise amendment to add a gate).

#68 James Williamson - Against removing Westley Street Fence - need to protect "protected" neighborhood. Who are the councilors talking to. Linear park redesign is flawed because they do not care about what people who live here care about. It is a bike highway and not a park project.

#67 Charles Teague - Against Westely Ave - there is crime in North Cambridge. He hates the linear park redesign. He says this will be a 14th entrance (not true). He says that all the entrances on the north are to private property (true, but misleading as they do not have gates.\
