I'm much more interested in making sure the people who bankrolled this never have this much influence over American politics ever again.

I'm going to be optimistic. The days of Confederacy 2.0 are likely numbered, for two reasons:
1) Pitching neofeudalism to the white serf class in the mid 19th Century was probably a much easier sell than it is today.

Give our allies credit. I'm sure they're working on some sort of solution to the problem.
It may be direct or indirect.
