I have a "Basic Witch" shirt. I thought it was just a funny take on the "Basic Bitch" thing, but I've realized that part of it is pushing back against the belittling of things that are popular among women/witches. It's saying, "Yeah, I'm 'basic' to you. Keep underestimating me for it, jackass."

It does depend on where you're trying to go. We didn't travel at all (except work conferences) until student loans were paid off (still have mortgage and cars) and our trips are still in the Americas. A trip to Asia would require a lot more saving (we avoid carry-over credit card debt).
