My name is Pete Kastanes and, I am the creator of the Vanished Chicagoland account. I am on several social media accounts and have a podcast called Vanished Chicagoland Stories. I am also a prostate cancer survivor.
Joe Bohannon, also known as Jobo, has passed away at the age of 70. I used to listen to him and Eddie Volkman on their morning show on B96 in the 1980s. We became Facebook friends a couple of years ago. I will talk about him on my next podcast episode this weekend. I'm very sad.

One of my cherished childhood memories is visiting Woolworth’s. This photo reminds me of the one located at the corner of E 113th St & S. Michigan Ave in the Roseland neighborhood of Chicago. The building still stands there.

This is one of my favorite photos taken at night — a Clark Gas Station. The exact location is unknown. It reminds me of the one in my old neighborhood at W 79th St and S Hamlin Ave, near Bogan High School in Chicago, where I graduated in 1981.

Hi everyone! This month is Movember. It’s an annual event to raise awareness about prostate cancer by growing facial hair. It also highlights other men’s health issues. I will shave it off when it gets really itchy.
