Kidlit friends, I’m on a comps hunt and drawing a massive blank! Can anyone think of a picture book from the last 2-3 yrs that had extremely contrasting characters or settings? Like a chicken in an operatic chorus, a giant with a passion for crochet….etc? (Or a serious attorney in a doofy costume?)

My 5-y-o is really into GNs. I wanted spark her to the idea of “closure” as illustrated by Scott McCloud in “Understanding Comics”….but couldn’t very well show her the page in question. 😳 So I drew her and her sister sneaking up on their dad for unspecified mischief instead. 😅 #kidlit #cantdraw
