This experience mirrors the real-world workflow used in research labs and industry—leveraging on-hand prototyping tools to de-risk ideas, refining concepts quickly, and collaborating with external fabrication partners for high-quality production.

Students began by de-risking their concepts using laser-cut cardboard prototypes, iterating rapidly before sending their final designs to SendCutSend for fabrication in 0.07″ thick stainless steel.

The Design Challenge --> Each team was tasked with creating a 2D design for a credit-card-sized multi-tool (2.125″ × 3.375″). Their designs needed to include at least six distinct tool functions while maintaining ergonomics and usability.
