She/her
I convinced my mom to go to the ER this afternoon; my dad's taking her now. She's experienced two thunderclap headaches within the last week, including one last night. The first one woke her up from a sound sleep. Hopefully they'll order a CT scan or MRI.

My folded book vase with paper flowers is done! I changed out the 2 large roses for 3 small roses made from peach colored illustrations, made a stock of trumpet flowers, a head of hydrangeas from blue illustrations, & green leaves. I also painted the vase with metallic gold & added a ribbon.

I'm on my third failed trial of a med/supplement to improve brain fog and executive function thanks to my overly sensitive immune system. I'm really tired of my eyes and/or skin burning and itching when I introduce something new.

NEW: My staff has confirmed reports that Medicaid portals are down in all 50 states following last night's federal funding freeze. This is a blatant attempt to rip away health care from millions of Americans overnight and will get people killed.

Last night I started a new book art idea: folded book vase holding paper flowers. I made the two roses from the illustrated pages I cut out of the thin Reader's Digest condensed book that I folded. I plan to make a few other styles of flowers and foliage for the vase.

I messaged my substitute doctor this morning and request a trial of another blood pressure/non-stimulant ADHD medication in the same drug family as guanfacine to help with my brain fog. I asked for clonidine, but there are several other antiadrenergic agents available.
January 15, 2025 at 7:07 PM
The guanfacine experiment failed. I woke up around 4am yesterday trying to claw my skin off due to itching.

Sadly, I wasn't on it long enough to experience any big improvement in executive function or brain fog, but I felt like my brain fog was slightly improving.

@muppetk.bsky.social I have a care package for you of dried beans, fruit, and nuts from my mom's garden. Can you PM me your mailing address?

I had an appt this morning with the substitute dr & it went well. He listened, asked good questions, & knew specific symptoms about dysautonomia. He also had no problem prescribing guanfacine to help with my brain fog & executive dysfunction. Too bad he's retired; I'd like to see him again.

The fruit on my parents medlar tree (Mespilus germanica) are ripening. Medlars are a very old fruit found frequently in literature. Shakespeare particularly liked it as its bawdy nickname is "open-arse" due to the shape of the fruit and there's a lot of play on medlar and meddler.

Someone ordered a pink carved book dog. Reader's Digest condensed books with pink covers are hard to find but I had one from the 1960s in pretty good shape. It turned out great. Look at how cute it is? I hope the recipient loves it.

OMG! Pepper, my outdoor cat, was pawing at the window so I went outside to see what she wanted. An opossum was in her bed inside the insulated house beside my backdoor; only its tail was sticking out! As soon as I went back into the house, it waddled away as fast as it could.

My Friends of the Library group raised over $7,200 in November! Pre-COVID, that's more than they raised in a year. My diversification strategies continue to pay off.

Yesterday's craft project: upcycled book page wreaths. The first is made from an old dictionary & features a silver paper poinsettia. The second is made from Christmas music and features two red paper amaryllis.
