Thanks..I've discovered fairly recently that taking transit in Vancouver out performs the car where I live. Most cases.

COVID, concrete strike plus construction costs have ballooned everywhere. That's why many building approved in Vancouver have stalled as they don't pencil anymore. Skytrain can't come back to the government and ask for concessions like a developer.

Same technology as Vancouver's automated Skytrain also elevated rail. No power to the train wheels runs by induction. Vancouver's elevated rail runs at 50Km's/hr and Montreal's REM 60Km's/Hr. Vancouver trains power supply is beside the tracks, Montreal's REM is overhead wires.

If it's not representative of the cities population then why vote against Cllr Bligh's amendment?

Ask him why if:
The 46 recreation facilities included in the audit have an estimated infrastructure funding deficit of $33 million per year, which is part of the City’s significant overall infrastructure deficit of $500 million per year.

A makeover of one of downtown Vancouver's streets for walking and cycling. This street used to be a car sewer that you would never walk. Road diet to single lane. Lined with 5 rows of trees in places with landscaping and townhouses. Wait until the trees mature.

I only drive 600 Km a year now. Walking and transit out perform the car plus it's less hassle and a lot cheaper. I venture out on my bike if it's over 25C. Pretty cool living in a part of the city that you don't need a car to participate in society.

The Richards street makeover that happened over time just blows me away. The quality of the architecture (row housing) landscaping, 5 Rows of trees in places, Bike lane etc. All anchored at the False Creek end by beautiful George Wainborn park plus the kids Rainbow Park.

Sure is a massive improvement with the traffic loops removed.

The gap between the 2? The sidewalk will be widened and the bike lane narrowed eventually. This will allow vendors (ice Cream, coffee etc) to sell their wares on the apex of the bridge with restructured seating to enjoy the views.
