A reminder that universities aren’t only spaces that discursively justify colonial domination & capitalist exploitation. They occupy Indigenous land & produce technologies of violence used for imperial projects (e.g., Department of Defense offering Howard University $90 million).

What we learn from Amilcar Cabral is that decolonization requires destruction & construction.

Destruction of political, economic, & cultural dependency.

Construction of a radical political consciousness, collective or communal modes of production, & cultural-epistemic projects

“There is a certain mode of reading connected to a tradition of colonial practices in which every book by any Black writer appears as sociol-ogy. Then all of that book's explorations, its meanings, and its ambitions lodge in a place called identity.” — Christina Sharpe, Ordinary Notes

Whiteness talks, talks a lot, talks too much, talks about everything because its conquering eye has no limits to its gaze, & its voice functions as the loudspeaker of the unique, scientific, rational…truth of the West–a truth that will always be structurally racist.

Examples of doing something in the workplace:
- interrupt racist coworkers
- address ambiguous (thinly veiled racist/ sexist/ homophobic etc) comments
- follow up on actions you say you're going to look into
- have a reputation of not tolerating colonial nonsense
