This took a while to get done, but I've chronicled my day among the protesters in Los Angeles, and the idea that this is anything but a celebration of cultural heritage and a firm, nonviolent demand to protect family, friends and neighbors is totally ridiculous.

Cries of Defiance and Songs of Joy in Los Angeles
The protesters are being called unspeakably violent by the Trump administration. I mostly saw clergy sit-ins and Tejano bands.

I never in my life thought I would see a sitting member of the U.S. Congress gleefully call our nation "the dominant predator." This is sick.
WATCH: Rep. Andy Ogles says he introduced a bill to let Trump annex Greenland because “we are the dominant predator”

Reagan’s GOP: 🇺🇸 = “shining city on a hill”

Today’s GOP: 🇺🇸 = “dominant predator”

Sounds about right.

Garth Hudson has passed on. RIP. Last member of The Band. Terrible news. Today we lost Jules Pfeiffer too. Good Lord. RIP again. I think we have one of his books that I picked up at an exhibit of his work. I’ll look for it tomorrow.

The reëlected President reprised his “American Carnage” address, with repeated jabs at America’s “decline” under Joe Biden, but his central theme, as always, was himself.
