i watched vivi play the final leg of that game for the first time the other day and it was fun to pause every once in a while and remind ourselves “*ALL OF THIS* is hidden behind [a single puzzle so famously obtuse it likely filters at least 50% of players]”

the problem is that kids *don’t even know what the word on the page is*; forget the question “what does ‘horse’ mean”, kids are stuck at “what word relating to a big farm animal is this?” and instead of sounding it out they’re being taught to guess (& so might guess “pony” or even “cow” etc) (2/2)

catch-22 of, i don't think this post qualifies as sexually-suggestive but it might to some people but i don't want to label it "sexually suggestive" but if i don't the auto-labeler might slap it with the much more pernicious "sexually-suggestive (cartoon)" & decimate how many people see it

like, i think some things that are hard for humans to do are good when a human does them and suck when an algorithm does them, for reasons that don't purely boil down to "time is money". meticulous rendering can be bland and corporate or the sum of 1,000 passionate choices made by someone w/ an idea

we are going to have to adopt a framework for what makes art "beautiful" that focuses on what it Does rather than solely on constructed signifiers of quality like rendering etc. i'm a genius so this was already my opinion. i weep a lil for the debasement of broad swathes of rendering styles, though
