Historian of Modern France, the extreme-right, and the French Resistance. Working in curriculum development (teaching and learning spaces) and student success at TMU. Parent of a very sassy young child.
Distracted today by City crews taking down a silver maple that has been outside my house for 120+ years. It was once a beautiful, thriving canopy and was damaged by shady builders a couple years ago. It's not dead, but apparently the city doesn't care to try and preserve it.

More and more messaging like this is sneaking into my kid's life, despite my extremely careful attempts to avoid filling his mind with diet culture BS. I find it enraging.

All thanks to this truck, which decided to make a turn on a small street that clearly didn't have enough space.

This is absolutely bananas. There's no way universities can survive if this happens (alongside all the other threats to their existence).

Opening keynote of TMU's CELT conference. Mark Daley, starting a robust discussion about AI and what it means for universities. Ultimately suggesting that human flourishing must remain at the heart of our missions.

Sooooooo....those stupid strategic voting websites that I was trying to dissuade people from using are partially to blame for this. They advised voting Lib in this riding.

I'm always deeply suspicious of fictional accounts that deal with my own research subjects. Was very taken aback to see this on the shelves of my public library. Will reading it be an exercise in rage management??

I have questions. First, is fentanyl really responsible for "10s of millions" deaths in the US? Second, will Canada's govn't walk back the billion dollar border security initiative? It clearly made no difference in this trade dispute AND we don't need additional security at the border.

Just finished @josheyler.bsky.social's book and I am particularly grateful for the threads of hope woven through it. I'm struggling against despair these days and I so appreciate reminders that things can (and have) changed for the better.
