Asking Peter Khalil MP some tough questions at the Vigil to end Fossil Fuels in Wills today

As figures from latest reports show, there has been little net change in emissions since 2005 (Australia’s reporting period under Paris Agreement) if you take out LULUCF.

The only sector where there’s been much progress is electricity, with a little bit in agriculture and waste

Just because we need beauty and a reminder what we’re working so hard for (as well as people)

quick search - report definitely used the term “no or limited overshoot” which suggests there were some modelled scenarios with no overshoot doesn’t it?

Ok another #AI weird claim for those interested - I was just searching for ‘cities on 38S’ (ie latitude 38 South) and Google AI told me Dunedin in the South Island of New Zealand is one.
Dunedin is 46S - entire South Island of Aotearoa/NZ is further south than 38! How could it possibly get that?

Both Queensland and Northern Territory have conservative governments that are backsliding or denying #ClimateChange. Yet both face enormous dangers. Currently severe to extreme heatwaves are predicted for the next six days including extreme heatwaves around Darwin

I love this story about platypuses in the Guardian. But I must say also that “spineless waterbugs” (some of their prey), sounds like a good political insult, perhaps for certain federal politicians who won’t pass strong nature laws?

Week 20 of our regular Tuesday Vigil to End Fossil Fuels outside office of Peter Khalil, MP for Wills - a gallery of signs ❤️ Standing strong

This looks like google AI rubbish to me - it claims that because Perth is closer to the equator than Sydney, it has hotter summers and colder winters.

It’s wrong in fact, but why would it say that?

Albo looking very comfortable in bed with fossil fuels today.

(And me in my pink PJs with a good sign that someone else made)

16 weeks we have been doing our Vigil to End Fossil Fuels but still no sign of our elusive federal MP.

Over 20 people today with the wonderful Climate Choir, but guess who wasn’t there?

What inspired this specifically, is that because I don’t own a car, I converted my parking space to a courtyard and every morning I wake up and see this
Technically this is ’reducing demand’ but it is also abundance of beauty and magic and wonder

ABC estimating 10,000 - think it was a LOT more

Having some fun at our Vigil to end Fossil Fuels outside MP Peter Khalil’s office today

We started our Vigil to end Fossil Fuels outside Peter Khalil’s office on June 3rd so we’ve been going about the same time.
First photo is last Tuesday with nine people, second photo is me back on June 3 with our dear departed climate hero, John Englart 🥲

Melbourne, north metro 773 - one of the better scores in Australia but still very sad

Can we please stop using the term ‘natural disaster’ to describe events like the NSW floods, as Chris Minns is doing here.
‘Natural’ in this sense means ‘not caused by humans’ but we know that human-caused climate change IS contributing to these disasters.

I have screenshots if you want them. This is the one where he told you to fuck off for mildly disagreeing with him and suggesting he shouldn’t resort to abuse

Why would you need to be a billionaire when you can go camping for $40 and wake up to this

Ha ha I tried this and it’s very funny but I’m now wondering - is it true that you can walk on custard? And, did I actually make this saying up or is it a real saying?

This is what is predicted for the lowest of those sites, on current trends. I find it very sad that within my grandchildren’s lifetime, there may not be significant snow in Victoria, where we live.

This is what has been happening in Australia (at three regularly measured sites in the Snowy Mountains)

Cannot get over how hot and dry South Australia has been this summer-autumn. Have lost track of how many heatwaves BoM has called

I think like many working in #ClimateChange & #Climate&Health I’m kind of stunned at present, but I don’t think everyone realises yet just how bad things are
