Vintage electronics, contraptions, Python, data, ESP32, mobile robots, ROS and so on...
And the main reason why we are here: the LED display but with no bubble lenses: just flat.

The TI chip sits in some exotic "socket". I have never seen it before!

Unfortunately, the calculator does not read the keyboard anymore but displays a cute zero.

Initially, I thought "3 Volts only?" It turns out that this calculator was powered by AA or AAA batteries. Those were two 3V batteries for total of 6V.

Today's thrift shop find: Commodore Minuteman 3 ca. 1973.
How tiny this thing is! (see AAA batteries)
Finally term "minuteman" has a different meaning from ICBM.
"A 'minuteman' (hist) refers to a member of a colonial militia who was ready to fight at a minute's notice, especially during the Am Rev"

Krompelka surprised that the batch job is finished.

Fake Geiger counter but it looks convincing with my coffee cup! Can you see the sensor?

Temporal Anomaly Clock.
The clock shows time with its local anomalies.
The sensitivity is set to 5 but "it goes up to 11".
I did not dare go set it that high.

While 65536 makes sense to me, 2^32 (4294967296) is beyond my consciousness. I do not recognize this number.

Matrix... you can do only so much with 7 segments.

Here are two animations revealing time: SlotMachine and Matrix. Both of them require some fine tuning but I am not sure which one to pick.

I ordered 20 of those connectors and received 280. I am trying to imagine how this might have happened.
1. Disgruntled employee packed the content of the entire bin.
2. One picker instead of taking one pack from a bin took entire bag and went for a lunch. Another one put the whole bag into a box..

Yes, I got them from a thrift store for pennies. Thanks to your question, I found one that is more affordable 😃

Ouch!

Now we are talking!
After my manual initial test, Gemini "suggested" code with Adafriut LEDBackpack library, but the code did not work as the library 7segment class assumes only 4 digit display with a colon in the middle. It ended up generating more generic logick.

I am in love with 1970s calculator bubble LED displays. Cuteness overload!
I am using HT16K33A breakout board because it is a damn common anode display.
I will add an RTC this time, but this will require a level shifter.

Posting the most beautiful rat picture from 1990s. I do not have an electronic copy of the original - just its imperfect printout scan

"The designers managed to get the IC count down to just 29." No wonder that it does not have leading zero suppression.
