Ali France just became the first person to unseat an opposition leader at an election. Despite Peter Dutton’s fear-mongering and culture wars that strategically and deliberately harm minorities, Australians didn’t buy it. And a woman with a disability showed him the door.

Considering Covid and other viral infections like shingles are known causes and or accelerant of dementia, you’d think that we’d be more concerned about how we’re dealing with prevention.

It’s embarrassingly predictable that an #Alberta #Covid19 taskforce felt the need to embrace unscientific (but popular in right-wing conservative circles) beliefs in their recommendations.

CNN is hopelessly broken.

1. This "expansion" would require military invasions of several allies in violation of international law.
2. It would violate several treaties.
3. The Louisiana Purchase was the sale of land by a colonial power (France). These are sovereign nations.

Theres a lot of misinformation about fluoride, dose and how it’s delivered is important.

Research shows it can have health benefits at the right dose, and dental issues are directly linked to heart health and other serious medical issues.

As someone who is privileged to work primarily from home full time, for an organization that has adapted to a very #FlexibleWork model, the push from many corporations for return to the office is truly mind-boggling.

Is it just about power over employees?

I am increasingly developing a visceral revulsion to the way some people are using LLMs. I learned the other day people are using them to write emails at work

I'm sorry but if your emails require LLM support they're too long and unfocused. You're solving the wrong problem.

Just flew #YVR to #SYD on #AirCanada. ~15 hours with #CO2 as high as 1840ppm and lowest about 1000.
Compared with the time on the aircraft, #YVR Intl Terminal’s air exchange rates were phenomenal. Only a handful of #n95 masks on the flight.

It’s amazing how few people would actually link their bringing a virus home and their cat dying

Given the current cavalier attitude to #covid19, in the name of the economy, “it’s only a flu”; I can’t imagine we’ll see great uptake for any mitigations beyond hand sanitizer, hopes and prayers. #h5n1
If you have an indoor cat and you're not masking, when your cat dies a death I can't describe without a dozen content warnings, you'll know you were at fault. And we're all too fragile emotionally for that trauma right now. So please, for the cats, mask.

Good news: Twitter is collapsing.

And this chart doesn't even show the last two weeks—which have seen the largest exodus in site history.

There are reports from Newsweek and others that Twitter may merge with Truth Social.

If that happens, the last collapse of Twitter may happen almost overnight.
