Today is #MedalofHonorDay. While traveling to West Point to give a presentation in 2002, WWII Marine ace Joe Foss was delayed by airport security because he was carrying his MoH in his pocket. The screeners were unfamiliar with the star-shaped award and thought it was a weapon.

Commandant of the Marine Corps, Gen. Eric Smith, congratulated Marines, sailors and civilians on their hard work in achieving the second clean financial audit for a service in DoD history. Both times - by the Marines. Proving a $ invested in the Corps is a $ well spent.

The #Pentagon #audit is the most complex in the world. Contrary to what people say - it's about having systems in place to track things. The U.S. Marines are the first service to pass their audit - and they still have 7 "material weaknesses" read here: media.defense.gov/2025/Feb/04/...

For the second year in a row, independent auditors verified that the #Marines’ financial records are materially accurate, complete, & compliant with federal regulations & issued an unmodified opinion for Fiscal Year 24.
Repeat achievement for the Marine Corps - only service to ever pass an #audit.
