I’m from the UK. We has law that required internet history to be stored for 3 years. Local councils had access. Imagine the sort of petty vindictive fools travis had to deal with in his local area re barnlaw. That is a more appropriate mapping then US state governments.

Not only that but the protocol makes people MORE visible to bad actors. Very few people had firehouse access at twitter. Like hedge funds and perhaps USG could afford those fees.

its going to be niche forums whose members are fished out from bigger social sites where valuable discussion will take place. they wont be on google as they seem to intentionally suppress classic internet forums.

concern with bsky is by pushing twitter to protocol layer we just invited censorship to that layer. bsky is not solution imo. + all our posting is public on api (w no opt out) makes it easier for lower level gov agencies to harass people. Firehose access v hard on twitter unless hfund or 3 letter.
