Sorry, it’s rough feeling that you give out care but don’t feel like you get the same back. Buddhists say you should send loving kindness out into the world regardless of any return, send loving kindness and compassion and hopefully like a mirror it will reflect back to you

For what it’s worth I think your expectations are normal and appropriate, but I also think many people find it difficult speaking about MH issues, British standoffish culture can’t cope with an emotional response, disappointing but perhaps your wife could bring it up, say how you are feeling?
