People create more when their lives are stable and they are happy and therefore, able to sit down and focus on being creative because they don't have to worry about Every Other Little Thing. People under extreme stress are much less likely to do that because they have other things to prioritize.

What really got me in this reflection is the immediate response in my brain like "can't stand our thoughts? Where's that mindless scrolling? Can't we get back to the mindless scrolling?"
