I... Ok I confess that I am not familiar with British cows nor the current state of animal branding (...) for children, but generally to my awareness cows don't have horns? Bulls have horns. Cows have no horns. At least in breeds I'm vaguely familiar with.

Iirc the Chocolat sequel is set in Paris. Unfortunately I don't remember it well compared to Chocolat or Blackberry Wine which are both French countryside. (Not about it, I just read it in a low-memory period)
