Unprescribed Journeys

A podcast of guided meditations and escapist journeys by someone who really doesn't have his act together. It's a comedy, if that wasn't clear.
Coming soon, I hope! A Christmas Special.

Good news! I have created a cosy autumnal episode just in time for Halloween. I wouldn't say it's *deeply* cursed, but a good friend did have to tell me to get over myself and just post it. It will be with your ears shortly.

A frog in my garden? In this economy? #rewilding

For those of you who are dying for a follow-up from the Gardening 101 episode: I did, in fact, grow cucamelons this year. They are fun to grow, look like tiny watermelons, and taste like cucumbers. Every bite a disappointment. 💚

Nearly finished! Guest music and voices that may surprise you. A nice thing going badly, which may, at this point, be unsurprising. But HOW will it go badly? Who will be to blame? These are the questions.

The mask maker I met in Venice was brilliant. When I entered he was sitting at the back of a shadowy studio crammed floor to ceiling with beautiful and eerie masks, sketching away under a tiny lamp. I only had the space in my bag and cash for one of his smaller ones but I still think it's great.

Oh, it's nothing compared to yours; I was still a kid! But will share so as to not sound like a massive liar. I like to think I'd do a better job now but I'm fond of the old thing. It won't let me take it down.

Completely unrelated to the show (unless you count the rewilding episode) but I saw this absolutely stunning dragonfly on my walk today. I THINK it's a southern hawker in the rarer blue form? Could be completely wrong. Bad naturalist.

I know it looks like Target went beige this year out of cowardice but it's actually because my bee stole all of the colours. What do we think? Louder?

Just finished recording a garden-based episode and was rewarded by my first ever visit from an angle shades moth! Tragically, few of my IRL friends care much for moths, so have at it, internet. I know it's not strictly relevant to the show.

Or is it?

(It isn't.)

That's so cool! Haha I totally get it. Haven't seen any for a while here so here are some UK ones from my little guidebook. Marble, "robin's pincushion" and cherry galls (the most tempting wasp homes we have)!

Not to brag, but I get on well with bees in real life. Here's one I found indoors who was perfectly happy perched on my fingertip until we found some lavender. If you don't get on well with bees, ask yourself, what did you do? What secret evil lies dormant in your heart? The bees know. Do you?

Further evidence that I can actually bake. Not pictured: Reptile eggs

After our guided meditative "bake along" episode, we received the following email. "I cried [...] but I have to ask can you actually bake or was that just made up?"

...Have ye so little faith in this microphoned weirdo? I laminated these croissants in between recordings!
