Congrats to Claire Garman, a PhD student in Dr. Sujata Chaudhari's lab, who won 1st place in oral presentation at the Entomological Society of America's annual conference. Garman presented their research on the critical role of chitin biosynthesis in tick cuticle integrity during engorgement.

The Human DNA Identification Laboratory in our department recently hosted nearly two dozen professional investigative genetic genealogists from around the country to work on a number of unsolved Omaha homicides.

Congrats to Larissa Leiva Pelaez, MD, one of our first-year residents, who passed her USMLE Step 3 exam! USMLE Step 3 is the final examination in the USMLE sequence, assessing a physician's ability to practice medicine independently, focusing on patient management in ambulatory settings.
