STARBUCKS WORKERS UNITED stands with IMMIGRANTS & INDIGENOUS PEOPLES The members of Starbucks Workers United stand in solidarity with immigrants and indigenous peoples, regardless of where they were born. Everyone who enters our store is a member of our community, including immigrants from all walks of life, and we need our stores to be a safe space for everyone. An injury to one is an injury to all. Immigrants are the foundation of our current labor movement — their sacrifices helped win rights and protections for all workers. At this pivotal moment in history, the U.S. labor movement must stand together to support these vital members of our society. We are sharing these resources to inform workers of their rights if ICE enters their stores. We encourage workers to share them at their stores and with their coworkers. KNOW YOUR RIGHTS source: https://iamerica.org/know-your-rights/ DON'T RUN. Stay calm and don’t run. Running may be seen as an admission of guilt. DON'T CARRY FALSE DOCUMENTS. Providing false documents to ICE may result in deportation and criminal charges. DON'T INTERFERE WITH ICE AGENTS. Interfering with ICE agents during a workplace raid may expose you to criminal charges. DON’T SIGN ANYTHING YOU DON’T WANT TO SIGN OR DON’T UNDERSTAND. Think twice before signing anything without talking to a lawyer. Signing a paper may end up being an agreement to voluntarily leave the United States. Consulting with a lawyer before signing anything is the best way to protect your rights. THE RIGHT TO REMAIN SILENT. You have the constitutional right to remain silent and to refuse to answer questions. If you want to exercise your right to remain silent, show ICE your Know Your Rights card. KEEP IMPORTANT PHONE NUMBERS WITH YOU. Keep the phone number of your union and legal services provider with you. A "welcoming environment" means actually paying us fairly, staffing us properly, & finalizing union contracts with strong protections for LGBTQ+ and BIPOC workers!

Starbucks just announced its plans for a significantly more conservative dress code. Instead of finalizing fair contracts with our union and addressing the actual issues at stores, such as understaffing and lack of guaranteed hours, Starbucks is choosing to waste time on policies that make stores less welcoming to both workers and customers. THIS NEW DRESS CODE HURTS PARTNERS. STARBUCKS WORKERS ARE RACIALLY DIVERSE, DISABLED, QUEER, AND TRANS. WE NEED A DRESS CODE THAT ALLOWS US TO SHOW UP AS OUR FULL SELVES AT WORK. 
Our union has been fighting for a contract that expands the dress code. This includes enshrining the CROWN act (which protects workers from racially motivated discrimination against hair textures). Meanwhile, Starbucks’ new dress code changes hurt workers. It restricts the gender expression of queer and trans workers, potentially forcing trans workers into dysphoria-inducing clothing. Workers who already struggle to pay their bills on Starbucks wages can’t afford to buy a brand-new wardrobe just to be in dress code.

Our union went on the biggest Starbucks ULP strike in history right before the holidays, and as we head into 2025, we’ll keep fighting until Starbucks bargains a fair contract with us.

Holy fuck, Whole Foods union just dropped.

300 grocery store workers for Whole Foods in Philly are unionizing with UFCW local 1776.

As far as I can tell, this is the first organizing effort at a whole foods *store,* ever.
Pictured is a filing from the National Labor Relations Board website showing a petition for certification of a labor organization as the representative of a collective bargaining unit. The employer is Whole Foods Market located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. There are 300 employees in the proposed bargaining unit made up of All full time and regular part time employees including team members, team trainers, order writers, non-management supervisors, and store scanning specialists that are employed by the employer at its 2101 Pennsylvania Avenue, Philadelphia, PA facility. EXCLUDED: All other employees including store team leads, associate team leads, store trainers, team leaders, assistant team leaders, office, clerical, confidential employees, security guards, managers and supervisors as defined by the Act.

🏳️‍⚧️Trans rights are labor rights - and on Trans Day of Remembrance, we’re reaffirming our support to fight like hell for our transgender coworkers.

Raven (she/her) and Christi (he/they), two worker-leaders of our union's Trans Rights Action Committee, collaborated on this art and written piece:

Anti-trans legislation is at an all time high, with 665 anti-trans bills being introduced throughout the United States this year alone. 45 of these have passed. Hate crimes and transphobic rhetoric have skyrocketed. We are routinely being used as punching bags on all sides of the political spectrum. It has been a very difficult year. Today - November 20th - is Trans Day of Remembrance. Specifically, this is the 25th Trans Day of Remembrance. TDOR was started in 1999 by Gwendolyn Smith, in response to the still unsolved 1998 murder of a trans woman named Rita Hester. In the years since, it has become the day we mourn all we have lost over the last year. Every year the violence against trans people - especially Black trans women - gets worse. This last year, 30 trans people in the US have been murdered according to GLAAD… the youngest of these being only 14 years old. Many suspect the number of those affected by transphobic crimes are even higher. But guess what? We are still here, we are still fighting. Members of our union’s Trans Rights Action Committee (TRAC) are front and center in the fight to protect trans workers at Starbucks in whatever ways we can. Trans people have ALWAYS been at the front and center of this campaign and we always will be - and as we continue bargaining for our union contracts, we are pushing for an inclusive workplace that serves not only our most vulnerable, but all workers within it. As trans organizers, we are proud of what we have done for each other. The work continues.”
