Interesting that Orange piss bag (mute word: Trump) didn’t take issue w/ Democrats saying the boat strikes were illegal… he took issue with Democrats REMINDING people that they’re illegal.

My long plastic IKEA shoehorn broke. Replaced it w/ a metal one but it's painful to use on tight shows (like my running shoes). ZERO flex. But I just realized it's not flex AT THE HEEL that matters… it's flex along the length. If I BARELY hold the steel one (no pressure at all) it works better.

Next day bump because if you haven't seen this excellent documentary you should! So good. And free on Tubi.
Watched Girl's Can't Surf and it was equal parts maddening and inspiring. I was shocked to learn WSL only started offering women equal prize money in 2019! So I guess 7 of Stephanie Gillmore's 8 World Titles were at 50% pay? Wow. Great doc tho! I was teary at the end. Absolutely incredible women.

"You prop up the government! I don't wanna prop up the government, I did it last time! Mommmmmmmm he's touching me!"
Minority parliaments, in theory: Parties forced to work together, government held to account, real compromise, substantive accomplishment.

Minority parliaments, in reality: IS THERE GOING TO BE AN ELECTION THIS WEEK? WHAT ABOUT NEXT WEEK?

Looking forward to my annual Crave plan expiring soon! I paid SO MUCH for something I rarely use. My only regular watch is Last Week Tonight (which I can do w/o). Other than that I've watched 100 Foot Wave, The Last of Us, and the horrible last season of Handmaids. That's it. And the app is shit.

Oooh… just looked at Apple’s thumbnail and description of Pluribus Ep.4 and we’re going to be meeting Paraguay man this week!

Rainy day and I’ve been errand bargaining w/ myself… like I don’t really need this / that today so I could just do this one store run closer to home (and cut my errands in half). Now I’ve progressed to… do I really need to even do ANY of this today? 😁

THIS IS HUGE! Researchers have just identified a powerful new antibiotic that is 100x STRONGER than existing drugs against deadly superbugs like MRSA and VRE. Hiding in a well-known soil bacterium, pre-methylenomycin C lactone KILLS drug-resistant bacteria WITHOUT triggering resistance.

And then we wonder why people have such a skewed understanding of the world.

All of the societal effort that goes into making the wealthy happy is like if every year 50% of the money generated in Canada went towards teaching thousands of dogs to become cardiothoracic surgeons.

It's not going to happen, it hardly creates any jobs, and it's fucking up the dogs.

Ok so re: Pluribus, if I was working in a Biosafety Level 4 or ABSL-4 lab and my colleague got bit by a rat infected with a mysterious alien virus I would simply not immediately drag them out of the containment chamber and into the open air but that’s just me.
Watched the first five minutes of Pluribus and oh hi it’s the Very Large Array! I haven’t seen it show up in media in a while. You may remember it from Contact, which had essentially the same “we found a pattern” plot. It’s 27 dishes (radio antennas) in a Y shape across 22 miles. A very cool place!

After an amazing first 2 eps I felt like ep 3 of Pluribus was just ok. The store gag was great but like… we get it. We get the premise. And Carol being surprised the device pirate lady brought over was real didn't track. Why would that be surprising after they gave Air Force One to someone in ep 2?

Been a crazy week. So last night I kept it simple for supper (and ordered Domino's tonight)… pan fried haddock, baked potato, and a store bought salad. And yes I had double-fisted ramekins… tartar (also store bought) and sour cream 🤤 Meant to post this last night but… it's been a crazy week.

Domino's might not be the best pizza in the world but the delivery speed is insane. My order tonight was literally 15 minutes from mouse click to in my grubby hands
