Thinking a lot about the role of human creation in our current post truth, 'Pseudocene' epoch, and I remembered one of my favorite legends, the Russian legend of the firebird, quoted here from the preface to Suzanne Maisie's seminal work on early, pre-USSR Russian history, 'Land of the Firebird':

The sky is the colour of brushed steel, and the sun - what you can see of it through the clouds - is low and wan in the southwest. It's just below freezing, and the wind occasionally shakes the house. The cat, meanwhile, is curled up on the dining room radiator. It's starting to feel like winter.

The character model project is called "Wert 2025" because "wert" was the random keystroke I used when saving the very first temporary draft of the first sculpture and I never changed it to a more appropriate name.
