One Patuxent River Pumpkinseed has been traumatized. And another fish of some unknown species was partially traumatized. I lost it before I landed it. No picture of the Pumpkinseed as I lost control of when I was unhooking and it fell back in the water.
At least I've had some fly fishing success!

I love fly fishing in an artificial lure and fly only area and finding the trash worm containers that people who don't care about the regulations left behind.
Had I a trash bag with me I would have cleaned up after them.

The drought is over. I wasn't sure my 6wt was going to be able to handle this giant largemouth bass. First cast on a chartreuse popper and then nothing for the rest of the time I was at the pond.

I don't see any way out of our current situation. I have thoughts that I'm unwilling to share outside of secure situations. What I want is to be trying to traumatize trout. Send me somewhere with limited cell service full of trout that will take my flies and let me camp for a week. Have a cat photo.

As a trans woman reconnecting with some pre-transition hobbies it's really difficult to not feel very isolated. Especially since those hobbies aren't usually hobbies you see women participating in. It really sucks.

Tried to do an artistic photo of my most recent fly rod setup.
Really need something good right now because this technofascist hellscape we're living in is only going to get worse and I'm very done with that.

I have mixed feelings on the new rod because the water was so cold the line was getting ice on it and making casting a pain. Might need to get a cold weather line. I know glass rods behave much different than graphite, but I think I might use my graphite 5wt next time. (3/3)

I wanted to hit the upper part of the Gunpowder River just below the dam, but I had no idea how unimproved the trail was and ended up boulder scrambling so much that I gave up and decided to just work down river back to the car instead of going up to the dam. (1/3)

Debarbing flies for my planned trip to the Gunpowder on Saturday and these are so smol I couldn't get the pliers in them and I had to use my fancy debarbing pliers that hurt my hands. Also I had to get the purple zebra midge.

I should have known better than to have tried fishing today. All the places the fish are going to be are covered in ice. And my rain jacket didn't hold up very well. I guess it's good that I got out of the house, but I burned a bunch of gas for no good reason.
