Our broken child care system can learn a lot from New Mexico - the state that is leading the way in guaranteeing free child care for all.

There is no better rate of return than investing in our children.

The rest of the country should follow New Mexico’s lead.

Around 70% of the U.S. economy depends on consumer spending. As wealth concentrates in the richest 10%, the rest of America can’t afford to buy enough to keep the economy running.

This is a huge problem — and even America’s most powerful CEOs are starting to sound the alarm.
Our Economy Is in Danger. Here’s Why

The Kansas City Chiefs are relocating from Missouri to Kansas and getting a new $3 billion stadium.

60 percent of it will be publicly funded — despite the owners boasting a nearly $25 billion net worth.

This isn't the first stadium scam we've seen recently...

Because of the Citizens United decision, Big Money is buying policy outcomes, Congress is dysfunctional, there's not enough transparency, and corruption is rampant.

@eisendrath.net and @tiffanymuller.bsky.social broke down the disastrous ruling here:

Much of the cardboard and paper goods strewn about our homes are sold by a single private company, with its name, Uline, stamped on the bottom.

Many may not know that a multibillion-dollar fortune made on those ubiquitous products fuels far-right candidates across the country.

That Cardboard Box in Your Home Is Fueling Election Denial
A previously unreported boom in profits for the shipping supply giant Uline has provided the funds for a deeply conservative Midwestern family to bankroll anti-democracy causes around the country.

This is also the natural consequence of wealth disparity. Those with money to burn are offered premium services while everyone else is cattle class.

Truer words were never spoken...we are seeing the proof right now.
As Supreme Court Justice Louis Brandeis stated in 1933; “We can have democracy in this country or we can have great wealth concentrated in the hands of the few, but we cannot have both.”

Today, at a time of unprecedented income & wealth inequality, his words ring truer than ever.

This shady deal was BLOCKED.

A private equity company tried to abuse the bankruptcy system to slither out of paying what they owe to seniors neglected in its nursing homes.

We stayed in the fight and the deal was blocked.

Next, we need PE out of health care altogether.

We spend twice as much per capita on health care as almost any nation on Earth. We pay the highest prescription drug prices in the world. 85 million Americans are uninsured or underinsured.

Republicans — pathetically — have nothing serious to say about the health care crisis.

ICE is going after people who commit fewer crimes than U.S. born citizens. They're robbing people, hurting people, using racial profiling, violating due process, hurting children, and going after American citizens while they do. This is an illegal criminal enterprise from head to toe.

MEDIA-OPOLY

This cartoon aired only once during the original live broadcast on April 4, 1998, and was later cut from reruns and most official online versions due to legal concerns or simply being a sensitive topic for a major media corporation like NBC, which is now part of Comcast.

Now the company is closing 150 locations.

But don't let that scare you.

Funny how that works.
