It's like they didnt even bother trying. Marvel Rivals got 400k players on Steam, but Ubi preffered to remove the game instead of releasing it on STeam.

#13 The End

I probably missed many things, but it’s my first longer post, i usually get paid for dumb memes and talking with people, I promise to get better in the future and I hope I helped you a little - I’ll be more than happy to answer any questions in DMs so feel free to reach out

#12 I don’t have time for that!

It may be time to hire a community manager then, even someone part-time :D Developers are usually full of passion about their projects, so it’s good to get someone from the outside to deal with the players, set up your discords, socials and others.

#11 Not everyone will listen

Some people refunded your game and moved on, and others may have bought the game but realized it’s not for them in the end, there’s no perfect game and Even Factorio has some negative reviews, so don’t sweat about it - usually if you’re around 75% on steam you’re fine.

#10 How long does it take?

Minutes, Days... Some people will change their review instantly after checking your dev response, others will take days to accept your invite. The longest it took me to help out a player and get a positive review was around 1.5 months - all worth it in the end!

#9 What should the conversation look like?

There’s no script for that. In my cases sometimes I resolved some technical issues, sometimes I joined the player in co-op to play with them, sometimes even just listening to them and saying that we will do our best to fix the issue is enough.

#8 Why do this at all?

Not everyone will be checking your game out after every update. E.g. I have over 100 games in my backlog, so it takes a lot to get my attention. Going out of your way to contact someone after fixing the issues they faced with your game you shows that you care.

#7 Your goal

You have to think about the end goal. It’s not to convert reviews. It's to help a person who paid with their money for your game. If they change their review to positive - that’s amazing, but it’s just a side effect. Don't aggressive when asking people to reconsider their review

#6 Direct contact good practice

1. Focus on fixing the issue
2. Ask the player if they can play your game again
3. Be honest about any potential fixes, even if you cannot do anything about that do not lie :)
4. Be polite - They trusted you with their money, show them that it was a good investment

#6 Direct contact

This one works the best for me. There are a lot of scams going on on Steam so make sure that your account is branded, has a high level and if possible - leave a comment on the user’s profile before sending the invite.
