I am genuinely baffled by all of that, because all the public-facing parts of your life are SO COOL to me. Like I'm sure you have personal struggles due to being human, but also squid! And community art projects! And science communication that is so joyful! And building connections!

Glad you were able to get it and sorry it gave you a tough day! As a data point for others, I had to have an MMR shot a few years ago and my only side effect was a slightly sore arm, so there's some variability there.

Yeah, there's some variability, but I approach it like "we're all in this together," and people seem to respond positively to it. And enough people today said the equivalent of "Girl, how ARE you?" that I started laughing about it. I'm okay! I promise!

Two simultaneous subway closures TWO WEEKENDS IN A ROW in December. Managed to hit all my colleagues coming from the east last week and the west this one.

I think it would be easy for the texture of all the stitches to look messy, especially in such a teeny piece, but the choices you made give it instead a kind of breathing aliveness--I don't have the right vocabulary to talk about it but I love it.
