I think that's one of the reasons this story haunts me so: the idea that Leelah's parents were so maniacally determined to control her identity and deny her truth that they continued to do so even after doing so helped drive her to take her own life.

After Leelah's suicide, her parents stubbornly misgendered and deadnamed her in death, and scrubbed the internet of her presence—including the Tumblr where she had posted her suicide note—all while claiming to have loved their child "unconditionally."
