Project TamTam between New Caledonia and Vanuatu is the world’s first SMART project. The environmental sensors will combat climate change, protecting our ocean ecosystems and marine wildlife, as well as save the lives of vulnerable people groups through advanced tsunami warnings.

The TamTam cable is the world’s first #SMARTCable led by France between New Caledonia and Vanuatu. This project will bring unprecedented insights into the New Hebrides Fault, one of the most seismically active ocean regions in the world. This initiative exemplifies the blue economy in action.

Tracking temperature changes in the deep ocean is difficult. The information provided by SMART cables would complement and provide additional resolution to other data sets that track these water temperature changes.
